Thanks F3l1ss. Shes so full of character and such fun to watch. Of course the flip side is its much more obvious when shes unhappy. I've moved (the fish equivalent of) heaven and earth to try and make things better for her these last few weeks.
Still hoping she can get her moult done soon, shes way overdue now.

So Gracie has enclosed herself in.
Wish I'd have gotten a video. She spent a while dragging piles of sand into the log tunnel, I thought maybe she was just trying to line the base. She then did a round of the tank picking up anything edible and went into the tunnel cave.
A few minutes later I saw she was then pushing sand back out, just to the door. The above is the result, shes essentially blocked the entrance.
Hoping, really hoping, this means she's finally getting on with her overdue moult.
Keeping an eager eye on things. I've now been signed off until the new year, so plenty of time to watch I guess!

Absolutely, she gets grumpy if you move any sand, will charge out and attack.
I'm really hoping now this means the overdue moult, expecting her to emerge double the size in the next day or two.

Double the size? Time for another tank upgrade then
Just a thought: seeing that she likes her hiding places and there are no plants surviving in her tank, do you think she might prefer less bright lights in her tank? Or to have floating plants or a mesh fitted to dapple the light somewhat?

That has been a concern if mine also :/
I used the Fluval vac with the fx4 for the first time today. Oh my word, what an unruly and difficult to use piece of equipment! How does anyone use this thing?!?

Minor update.
Gracie now lives permanently buried. She digs herself out at feeding time, does a lap of the tank stealing bug bites and ignoring the algae wafers, then buries herself back in.
No moult yet.

At least she's settled.
