I hope they don’t decide to breed. They’d kick the carp out of the oscars.

When I had a male convict paired with my female polar most of the time the eggs got eaten before they hatched. Will keep an eye out though, I have another tank to set up if necessary

Oscars would dig down to the glass base if they decided to breed. They’ll dig till they find a rock (flat surface). Convicts will use the side glass near the bottom, or the wood. You can’t stop cichlids breeding once the hormones are flowing.
