I managed to get a snap (albeit, a rubbish one) of the returning damsel fly

I found this on the edge of our pond the other day. Dragonfly or damselfly? I'm not sure if it has just molted or has hatched from a nymph.


After uploading it I cant enlarge it on postimages. It happens quite frequently on other threads.

If it’s resting it’s a dragonfly. Damselflies hold their wings together, either vertically or flat against the body.

They’re amazing creatures. When they’re flying, each wing moves independently, and as wind speeds ramp up to storm force, dragonflies stay out longer than any other flying animal.

Well the creeping Jenny is certainly creeping now!



The bastard cat from next door has decided to knock the ornament in which I’m slightly miffed about, might have to silicone them down if the weather holds off tomorrow.

Found a clump of jelly like substance in the pond, hoping it’s early stages of frogspawn but who knows!

Still no frogs but I have a feeling the cats have driven them away. Even the smaller birds are not entering the gardens as much. Hopefully this will all change soon!

Plenty of bugs in and out of the pond though so that’s good
