Zarra came home with a small marine fish tank and half a bag of very white sand from a friend at work today.

I have no idea what brand it is. Theres some stones in one compartment under a sponge, some sort of bottle that has a min/max waterline and a couple of pumps, what looks like a breather pipe and a heater.

Any ideas what sort of light I'd need and what could I keep in it? I'd say it's about 50l total but 30% is taken up by the filtration system.

I can get RO water from work if that helps.
64l kitchen tank: 16 golden tetra.
5ft 425L: 3 blue angel fish, 30 rummie nose tetra, 20 black neon tetra, 1 longfin bristlenose plec, 2 corydoras sterbai, 24 corydoras duplicareas,2 SAE.

Looks interesting. Was it free? If so, even nicer! :D
Most marine tanks have overhead lights but they need to be bright for corals etc.
I leave details to those who have kept marines before.
Can you get a pic of the filter housing and workings without the reflections? ;)

Yeah it was free Ian. Theres 2 square holes in the back feet of the tank. I'm sure thays where a stand or bracket fits ro mountain light.

I'll get a better pic tonight.

@fr499y I've got a betta tank and 2 other cubes.

I think I need to do some more digging into what tank it is.

Cheers martin. I think zarra said the stones in the filter compartment are live rock.

Or do you mean rocks as part of the display section?

@Andys temperate tank I was thinking of the Betta Lifespace range.

The 'bottle' with the pumps and 'breather' is a skimmer :) You should have a cone shape bit going up to a 'cup' which collects the skim ( this stinks btw )
