Cute? They're suicidal when they're small. I'm glad I moved my breeding pair on. They got into the filter despite intake foam, they swam into the gravel vac at top speed, they would hang on to the glass above the water line and just wait to dry out and would try and bully full grown Cherry Barbs.
I don't envy you Martin.

Some do get eaten, Black Ruby Barbs I suspect but many I find on the bottom chamber of my Eheim Pro 4.SPACKlick wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 9:53 am Cute? They're suicidal when they're small. Looking a bit cloudy at the moment, just added some Easy-Life Filter Medium so the water should be clear by morning.
Sadly think I've lost 'Bob' the male Ancistus. He was near fully grown when I purchased him but unfortunately he hasn't been seen for two weeks which is very unusual. I had a root around today, hence the aquariums look and despite testing I haven't seen an ammonia spike nor a carcass. Although with the amount of Shrimp I have think it's unlikely I'd see one with the hardscape and plants.
Bob is the top.

Quiet peasant.
...anyway, I'm not surprised it was so cheap, only 6 inches deep and he still has to use steps to get into the aquarium.
