Hi everyone, been a while! Hope you are all good. Mid August I lost my male apistogramma Baeschi and left with a single female, who shares a tank with some otocinclus. Today, I've noticed a young Apisto! I've searched the tank to see if there was a young male from a spawn I'd missed living amongst the wood, but no.
So what the hell!
If anybody has heard of this, or can point me towards some reading I'd massively appreciate!
By the way, please don't judge on the dirt in the bottom! I broke my wrist two weeks ago and had it pinned, so i was a little behind on my water changes.

It looks about 2-3 months old. Born before you lost the male.
I had expected them to be bigger than that at 3 months. Although I guess its growth is slightly slower as I haven't targeted it with a fry specific diet. Still, far more explainable than a female doing a males job as well!

Did they spawn as you lost the male? Is that why you lost him, because she beat him up?
I believed at the time she may have battered him a bit. It's been suggested elsewhere that it's about right for growth if it hasn't had extra water changes and feeds. Abnormality over I think!
