Rather than apply a film, or backing, has anyone here tried painting the back and or side of their aquariums with acrylic paint? Was thinking about doing this myself to the back and side that would be facing walls... Good idea or terribly bad idea?
I have plenty of paints and such, I'm no Michaelangelo, but I dabble a bit, but I'm thinking just a blurry sort of black/green/brown streaky kinda background would be kinda good at blurring the boundaries of the tank. There's probably a film that does just this, but then this helps personalise the tank and give a unique feel as well as being ostensibly cheap/free, beings as I've already the stuff... Just a brain fart lmao
The more I can save here the more I'll have to spend on plants and hardscape lol

Plain emulsion paint it what I use and you'll find it's pretty water resistant.

I have been keeping fish for many a long year.
What I have found with paint, is that water will get between the glass and paint and lift it.
Paint also gets knocked and/or scratched/scraped.
What I when for this time was an ADA Aqua Screen. It sticks like no one business.
I have not had a single problem with it.
