Does it wipe off easy? Looks like dust algae or diatoms.

Disgraceful!
Clean the algae before you perform a water change.

Getting the tank ready for algae eaters?
My tanks often look a bit like that, it doesn't bother me as I have a few algae eating occupants.

If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it!
Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

Thanks all, he was taking everything, even the fish out to clean the tank then putting plants, fish etc back with clean water so in effect doing a new set up every few months. Said he had seen me do it, which in truth he had, when I had fish die from an infection, I completely gutted the tank, putting the survivors in the medi tank until their tank was ready. Hey ho now he knows. Thanks again xx
