Re: New setup after dissaster

Sorry to hear of the losses. :( It may have been the vibrations that upset them, but you have ammonia which won't be helping. Have you got a bottle of Tetra Safestart or Seachem Stability on-hand to dose with the next water change (or 24 hours later) which ought to be now, that will help boost the f...

Re: Stephen's 120L tank log

You'll need to lower the water level (or empty it) and use a one-sided blade (I've heard wallpaper stripper blades work as well).
They normally come off relatively easily, make sure you get all the blobs of "glue" off (I think there's two at the top and two at the bottom).

Re: Honey barb gravid.

I've had egg-scatterers stay gravid for what seems like months......

I agree, it does look like overeating by the shape.
What are you feeding? They're normally quite fussy (well, all those I've had have been).

Re: Does purigen stop melafix?

It will probably remove the stuff that keeps the tea tree oil dissolved in water, so it won't be as effective.

Re: Poorly Bristlenoses?

Have you added anything to the tank that may have brought in internal worms/parasites? I would soak their food in crushed. fresh garlic (about half a clove for the whole tank) which will a) stimulate their appetite and b) upset anything that's in the stomachs. I've seen males with sunken stomachs af...

Re: 180L Budget Tank

Just don't get drawn in by the strong colours of any of the livebearers who NEED hard water to support their osmotic systems. ;) Some of the killifish are brightly coloured if that's what you're looking for. Most are basically softwater, except for a couple like the Florida/American flag fish. Not s...
