Re: Lanthanum Chloride dosing in a freshwater tank
I think because the tap water phosphate is so high, I'd end up changing the DO filters far too regularly + cost of 20l of RO water weekly same issue as Rowa Phos... Ideally lanthanum Chloride is a much cheaper option, if I can find a way to safely dose. I was thinking the new water can be dosed and ...

Re: Help please - High Phosphate & Algae Bloom
No, an email I received from NWL, Hi Dean, Our water quality team have come back with the below: Phosphorus - Occurs naturally as well as in fertilisers and detergents but rarely proves a problem in our supply. Phosphorus is dosed to control lead concentrations from private plumbing. The is no regul...

Re: Lanthanum Chloride dosing in a freshwater tank
Hi, I have a liquid testing kit and the tank water is over 10mg/l, (that's after two 75% water changes) my problem is my tap water alone is over 2mg/l, and I do not have an alternative supply. My thoughts were to use LC to get the phosphate under control and remove any trapped phosphate in the subst...

Lanthanum Chloride dosing in a freshwater tank
So after a losing battle with phosphate (going through 1kg of Rowa Phos in 3 weeks) and numerous water changes, I think I'm going to have to use LC. Most of the stuff I've read online mentions using this stuff with reef aquariums and the importance of not dosing directly into the tank and instead do...

Re: Help please - High Phosphate & Algae Bloom
Hi Martin, yes tested and it was way over 10ppm. Since then I’ve used 250ml of RowaPhos and then another 250ml of seachem phosguard, and the phosphate is still showing over 10ppm! That’s after an 80% water change too. I guess the rocks and media are saturated with phosphate. Do I just keep at it wit...

Re: Help please - High Phosphate & Algae Bloom
Hi, they're all pretty small right now, I've dropped their feeding to every other day too. The black moors are probably 8cm and the goldfish are probably around 5cm The plecos are both about 4cm.
