I've been wanting to get one setup like this since seeing Alastairs' tank back in 2012.
I'd love to have a 4ft x 3ft x 1ft setup in the same style but theres still a bit of persuasion needed before the wife allows it lol.

The perfect type of setup for a shallow tank

I might put in some botanicals now that the flow on one side is a lot calmer. Hell, I might even be able to grow a lotus again

That doesn’t count I had a pike cichlid which was pretty awesome but my favourite would have to be my snakehead.

Water changes with seachem prime as that converts Ammonia into ammonium? That’s not toxic to fish. As soon as you see any ammonia or nitrite showing do a water change.
