I was thinking of adding another hideyhole decoration to my tank and was considering something maybe rock-based, natural of course doesn't affect ph.

Came across this on eBay:

Quite like the look of it, but I wondered how easy it would be to do something like this myself or if it's worth the hassle given the cost of materials.

Unless anybody has any other suggestions? Seen these granite caves in shops but white/light grey would spoil the look of the tank.

Suggestions/tips welcome.

I’ve made a load of nice wooden caves by drilling big holes in natural branches, usually oak or beech. This is effective and cheap.

Just remember that dragon stone is sharp to fish and will cut barbels and long fins. ;)

I’m looking for a new cave, hiding hole but the ones on eBay & Amazon don’t seem tall enough or if they are they are too narrow :D you’ve got me thinking about a project for him indoors lol !

I'm thinking maybe trying something with black pebbles if dragonstone is too sharp (never felt it), this really got me thinking too!

Let me know if you come up with anything!

Could always just get something like this and glue pebbles around it or attach moss:

Seen an idea that we might go for, need some firm plastic, maybe the bottom of a large water bottle, shape as necessary, glue aquarium safe pebbles, slate etc, maybe some plants and hey-ho, hopefully a home made cave to the desired shape and size.....on the hunt now for some suitable plastic 🤪
