This was a piece of Redmoor I had in my Juwel Rio 180 and later used in my Rio 240 after which, I sold it.
I've known plenty of people use this wood without any issues. Any white fungus growth has soon gone once the wood has been in the aquarium a few weeks and is normally quite harmless.
Where did you get this piece of wood from?

I just prefer the look of manzanita and the more rustic looking stuff

Thanks @Martinspuddle thanks. I got the wood from maidenhead aquatics.
@fr499y thanks. I also like manzanita but i had seen some pieces that looked quite good but they were red moor which i had never heard of before.

So what are planning to do with this piece of Redmoor wood now?
If you've not had it to long you could take it back to Maidenhead Aquatics and see what they say.

The wood i have that is causing issues is manzanita but got it a year ago. The new bits i was looking at are the redmoor pieces. So just needed confirmation it would be ok for fish. I have taken that piece of wood out, it was bugging me too much. I have blitzed it with H2O2 then later on i boiled it to bits. Now i am going to re-soak it in a tub to see what comes back if anything.
Definitely rescaping now

Look familiar @FishBubs?
I've just setup my old Clearseal four foot aquarium for my unruly Ancistrus fry.
My Azalea Root which hasn't been used for nearly four years is already covered and this is just over 48 hours after I have set the aquarium up.

Once the Ancistrus fry are moved in, the fluff will soon be gone.

Update,
As that stuff just kept spreading, i took it out completely, stripped the plants off of it (popped plants back in tank with veg strip clips).
On the wood i squirted H2O2 (and a lot of it) all over the affected areas and left it for a few hours. Repeated same again. Then i boiled the wood for nearly two hours. Took it out let cool and squirted it again and left for another hour. The. I soaked it for five days then popped it back in tank:laugh: i do believe i blitzed it completely but time will tell
I will now skip along and create a wee tank log cos i am about to do some new scaping and i realised i never started one.
