Tank is looking lovely, nice contrast to see them together, reading your post has reminded me that the other week for work I drove almost past a place called Chens Discus, it showed up on my sat nav, so I looked it up they are wholesaler and have around 700 in at any time plus you could make an appointment to choose one, I don't keep Discus so I didn't but that would be a sight I bet! Chens fish are incredible. I haven't been but I wish I bought mine from them. They're quite widely recognised as the best supplier in the UK of Asian bred Discus.Staffylover wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 9:32 am Tank is looking lovely, nice contrast to see them together, reading your post has reminded me that the other week for work I drove almost past a place called Chens Discus, it showed up on my sat nav, so I looked it up they are wholesaler and have around 700 in at any time plus you could make an appointment to choose one, I don't keep Discus so I didn't but that would be a sight I bet! Been a good while with no updates!
Work has been mad just lately so the tanks have both dropped to a single water change a week and my wife has actually been doing the evening feeds for me with the help of my 5 year old telling her what food goes in what tank and when
Anyway I spotted Friday whilst working from home, no CO2 bubbles! - tank had ran out, no idea when as I've been leaving for work before it'd be on and getting home after its off so this could be why my BBA had started creeping back in again! Who knows!
Anyway a new tank is on now, and this weekend I've added some more plants (53b and some java fern)
But mainly a update to say - its still got water in!

I've not been on here for a while, been away down south for a week and work has been crazy!
There is some tank news tho! - Cleaning them out at the weekend and thought - that cory looks a little off, bit small - no colour.... until I saw another...and another! Yep the sterbais have clearly bred and been hiding in the bottom of the more heavily planted corner so I'd not seen them...
And then a photo sent from my wife to me at work...
That was yesterday, today they are still there so who knows! - They are both protecting, taking it in turns or both going side by side by the eggs.
This evening:
I'm not confident of any success I've seen all @Andys temperate tank eggs on his thread and this is the first time I've seen them lay and protect eggs.

There about 15 or 16 lemon tetra's, 3 polka dot loaches, corys and 4 pearly gourami (along with the other discus) Baby discus attach to the side of the parents tho if they hatch and become free swimming so who knows.
I've got at least 7 baby fish in the other tank too!

Brilliant stuff! I'd imagine they've done it a few times already if they're leaving them on the glass. Most videos I've seen of discus spawning shows the male eating them on the way out

Another day - eggs still here although they look to have gone more yellow so not sure if that means there no good! The parents are still defending and take it in turns fanning the eggs
Apologies for the quick phone pics but when I get home from work at the moment theres only a hour left of the lights so there ramping down!
