Hello all

so I should did a day one log but hey ho...
Here day one.

64l kitchen tank: 16 golden tetra.
5ft 425L: 7 blue angel fish, 30 rummie nose tetra, 20 black neon tetra, 1 longfin bristlenose plec, 2 corydoras sterbai, 2 SAE.

So Today I done my first Water test...

  • Water Tempter= 77
  • PH= 8.4
  • GH= 375 mg/l
  • KH= 300 mg/l
  • Ammonia= 3 mg/l
  • Nitrites= 1 mg/l
  • Nitrates=75 mg/l


Still away to go... I'm only 2 weeks in to the cycle.

GH= 375 mg/l = 21dGH (German) that is very hard water.
Do you live in Lincolnshire, Norfolk or Suffolk? Water in those counties are generally very hard.
pH8.4 is also very alkaline.

Which test kit are you using?

Your water is the total opposite of mine; sounds like liquid chalk 🤣
240L Fluval Roma with Oase 600 Biomaster: 1 German red bristlenose, 4 male cherry barbs, 6 standard rummynose, 3 golden rummynose tetra, 9 emperor tetra, 14 cardinal tetra, 2 hengeli rasbora, 3 nerite snails, 1 adult Sulawesi snail and multiple juveniles continually appearing.

Parameters: gH2, kH1, pH7.4 (tap).
Fish fiend since October 2017.

I used King British test kit...
I live in portsmouth very chalky...
I have Portsmouth as 16dGH and an average pH of pH7.3

Is the King British test kit "test strips"?
If yes then they are not very accurate, a liquid test kit is far better.
