Moss balls have always grown slowly for me, I don't think they do much for nitrate levels. You also need to turn them occasionally to even out growth and keep the shape.

Moss balls grow slowly and need cool fast running water to keep there shape which is why they need removing, squeezing and rolling into a ball every now and again 😁

Well all hell broke loss in the tank today.
As I was cleaning the Suction cups give up on the background the whole thing came away from the bottom floating at a 45 angle.
Had to move the rock to stop it from floating out.
On top of that one of platy seems to be unwell.

On a good note black death showed up see if you can spot him in the picture.

Here some pictures 📸

So I find yellow face today at the bottom on his side breathing heavy...
I kept an eye on him for a few hours he did not move at all nor came for food...
I didn't want him to suffer anymore so I put him to sleep.

I now have 2 platy left 1 male 1 female.

Soon I will think about restock with fish that has a longer life line.

Sorry you lost one. :(
Maybe they were quite old when you got them, you can never tell, they should get to around 3-4 years-ish.
