Ive done another tapwater test (as I couldnt find my intial test notes) and its showing as 0

If it's different to the tank reading, then you still have a little way to go.

Have you got your co2 yet? If not have a look for an out of date co2 fire extinguisher on facebook market place or ebay, I paid £100 for my first bottle of co2 which I got from a lfs but paid £12 for a fire extinguisher which does the job just as well.

Yea I am using CO2 fire extinguishers at 20quid a pop from amazon, refurb but they are not quite full but will still last me a age. I will have to check out old ebay for any out of date local ones.

My Crypts are absolutley booming right now, but my vallis is struggling. Any ideas on nice background plants?

Yeah, as I thought. But at least its giving the snails a head start

I've got crypt balansae in my big tank (the tank log is called angels delight if you want to see it) Vallis doesn't like my soft wate, the cryp is a nice alternative.

I have super hard water and the vallis doesnt seem to like that either

Tonights test...

Ammonia:0ppm
Nitrite: 5ppm
Nitrate: 80ppm

Topped up ammonia to 2ppm

Last nights test...

Ammonia:1ppm
Nitrite: 5ppm
Nitrate: 80ppm +

Today's test.

Ammonia:0.25ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 80ppm +

That looks good!
