I'm quite fearful that I might lose the entire tank. The angels are looking rough, and the remaining two keyholes are worse. I have 8 fish left from 33 (I think). Seen the mother in law yesterday and she just doesn't care. I'm so angry and I don't believe it was a genuine mistake now. My wife has had pretty strong words about it with her now and I think there may be a slight realisation. I can't believe she didn't do anything about it, as it absolutely stunk!

Lots of water changes and garlic-soaked food is all I can suggest, but if they've been swimming in toxic water for a while there will be permanent damage.
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it!
Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

As @plankton said water changes and if you can 50% the volume. These things are sent to try us, keep calm, carry on.

Sorry to hear about the losses. Always sad.
I have a small wifi camera pointing right at my tank as its in the garage. Helps me monitor if the lights are on and pump running. Worth a thought if you can place one next to your tank and so not intrusive to the family.

They're looking a little happier this evening, quite excitable for food for the first time.
I have a bit of a bacterial bloom as well, hopefully it's a good thing.

It will take them a while to recover from ammonia- and/or nitrite-damage.
I don't keep fish, I keep water. Water keeps fish.

Fingers crossed for you, totally devasting to loose most of your fish in one go like that, loosing one here and there is bad enough, really hope the others pull through, perhaps you should point out to MIL the cost of replacing a tank full of fish, I know it's not about money but for some people of the 'it's just a fish' opinion, pointing out the expense can be a bit of a wake up call, hope things improve now.
