  • Same food as always fed across all 3 tanks (now back to two)
  • I'm the house chef but haven't boiled potatoes or veg in a long time (steamed, baked or fried!)
  • No aerosols are used in the living room where the tanks are located, only small tea lights in salt lamps, away from the aquarium.
  • I did wonder about the plants but I moved the big one out of the room and its the same thing after a few hours with the film appearing.
  • No new substrates, plants, decore or fish and the bottle I use for water changes is always filled from the same tap.
  • Water marks certainly seem worse in the past week or so, and checking on ST's website there have been a lot more work taking place in the villages surrounding ours.
Next step to contact ST themselves I think and see what they come up with.

Have you checked with your neighbours about their water?

I mentioned it because earlier this year we had a problem and although not all the neighbours or adjacent properties had noticed the issue with the tap water supply, the water company did sort the problem and we received a refund.

Also, have you tested your water, TDS etc to see if anything shows up?

Sorry to hear M :(
I’d be putting in a massive complaint, doesnt matter that the water isn’t for fishkeeping, it shouldn’t be killing livestock off like that. Although it would explain how our rivers are so screwed
To the tune of “the saints go marching in”:

Yeah I think I’m going to. I’ll be closing the tank down at the weekend if I can’t find a solution for this problem in the meantime.

Really sorry to hear this, I've had a couple of tank die off incidents now and it's totally gutting, hope you can get this resolved with the water company, sorry for your fishy losses :meh:

@fr499y , this is only a thought and probably something you have checked already, but, is there anything such as debris caught in the filter tubes that is stuck and not getting flushed out?

Nope, nothing at all. Pipes cleaned a week ago as well, and the pump stripped and cleaned.
