I always doubted the Fishbase stated maximum size of “4 inches, possibly bigger”. Fishbase is often out of touch with sizes. I’ve just found 8” on a respected scientific site, so I’m pretty sure I’d find 10” if I kept looking.

That’s for M. anguillicaudatus. P. dabryanus probably gets about the same size. That’s what I was saying.plankton wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 16:44 pmhttps://www.loaches.com/species-index/w ... licaudatusblack ghost wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 14:10 pmI always doubted the Fishbase stated maximum size of “4 inches, possibly bigger”. The only thing it might need would be a support down the middle to stop the top bowing.
If that's a real drawer at the top, that would need support as well I would imagine to also help stop bowing.

Good point. I've had a joiner round to look at it. He reckons it should hold the weight but I'm going to fill it gradually to test and if the doors and drawer start jamming he'll come and install a central support. I'll fix it to the wall too to avoid any small wobbling from side to side.

You'll need a cental support. I put one in my solid oak unit for a 20-25L tank, just because it bowed a little when full. In all fairness the tank was on the shelf rather than the top of the unit

Centre support added and the tank is installed! I've filled it to stress test and then I'll pick up the substrate tomorrow if all is looking well. Plant order going in tonight too.
It's a Roma 200, which is slightly smaller than I had planned but about right for the space actually. I'm thinking instead of a tank mate like a loach of putting a few cherry shrimp in there. I know the goldfish will get some of them but I'll have a lot of plants and hiding places so hoping the population will stabilise.

What will the temperature be, roughly?
