Evening all,
Excitement in the house as I’ve just ordered a new tank only to turn sombre. One of our tetras was lifeless in amongst the plants. They weren’t in that position for long, but had been dead long enough for the pest snails and probably the shrimp to start nibbling on them.
Parameters are ok, nitrates creeping up despite a water change yesterday. The other tetras and tank occupants all seem happy and healthy. Given where I scooped them up from I going to guess death by misadventure with my assumption being that they were sick they’d more likely be at the top of the tank.
Thoughts?
Thank you.

Sorry for your loss
Its really hard to say.
If you haven’t had them long you dont know the conditions they were in before you got them which means they could already have underlying issues, or they’re older. Even then younger fish can have issues depending on their lineage and genetics.
Just keep an eye on the others.
