I wonder if they'd take one male back seeing as they were the last 2... and they're only ordering more for me!black ghost wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 19:25 pm Depends what you want. More females means more fry, but even a big female will only drop about 20 a month. One m and 2 f’s might work...
Edit... I’d probably get 3 and keep one male. Or 2m,6f. I don’t like the idea of isolating fish. so I would stick to that 1:3+ ratio to be safe (I tend to go 1:6ish with livebearers, so none of the f’s are harassed by the m).
Better still if anyone on here wanted a male and 3f for their own group I can get the fishlady to order 6f and split the cost
Would have to be near nn11 though
That said, what if after a couple of months I have the extra females from fry; isolated fish would no longer be lonely
I don't know how I can justify spending £42 extra on these with the OH when they were only £3.50 for 2!
They are very interesting fish though and I love being able to have "swordtails" in my tank without taking up the whole living room
Edit: I didn't mean separate in a tiny breeding box, I have a small tank which will shortly be free btw
