I don't mind having snails in my tanks, I think they do a good job as a clean up crew, but where the hell do they come from? My Betta tank has been set up for months, with only some moss added about 2 months ago. This little chap has turned up today! ROFL

Probably came in as eggs with plants or even in a fish bag.
I do not have snails in my aquarium and definitely don't want them.
A few years ago I bought some corydoras from my local LFS and notices a few tiny MTS in the bag, I was careful and emptied the bag with fish in to a temporary holding tank.
Some how when I transferred the corydoras to the main aquarium one or two MTS must of got transferred too.
Eventually I had hundreds, so I completely emptied the aquarium and started again; it's the only way to eradicate snails.

All my plants come from a reputable source; Aquarium Gardens, Aqua Essentials or Pro Shrimp.
It is extremely rare to get snails or snail eggs from those suppliers.
I still give all the plants an inspection and a thorough rinse before planting and my aquariums are still snail free.
The only plants that I may consider from the LFS are the in vitro plants (tissue culture) such as Tropica 1-2-grow which are guaranteed algae, pests, snails and chemical free.

I added a Nerite Snail at the weekend put I just picked him out with my hand. I guess the snail came in a couple of months ago with the moss and I've only now spotted it. Odd, as it's by my desk and I spend all day looking at the tank, rather than working 😁
