Hi All,

I noticed this evening my torch coral was a bit closed up and on closer inspection I noticed some small white "things" around the mouth area of the coral. They don't appear to be moving so I don't think they are a bug. The torch wouldn't open up any further for me to get a better pic of them but any ideas what they might be? Initial google searches have indicated they might be eggs from the coral? (Which I didn't even realise they did).

My knowledge of marine life is limited to watching the great Sir David's documentaries. However, your coral does look indeed as if it is spawning. Not sure whether the same coral also releases sperm and how easy/difficult it would be for any baby corals to grow. :)

Some soft corals, Cucumbers, Anemones to name a few reef inhabitants, clear out their stomachs of sand and other debris mainly at night. Sometimes they will do this during the daylight hours, mine occasionally use too in my old reef aquarium. Many of these creatures don't have a way passing unwanted debris, so unlike us who just go to the bathroom, they regurgitate this matter. Nothing to worry about.
WARNING - DO NOT BREED, FEED OR PET THE PUDDLE! :dodgy2:
