We've put a pond in many moons ago using pond liner. It served its purpose well for a number of years until something or other had a nibble at the liner.
As luck would have it I found a preformed pond on Gumtree at the time and put that one in. This is what it looks like today:
This used to be connected to the pond via an overflow but every spring something happens that makes this lose water - with no obvious reason. So I've now separated this as a bog/swamp area. It has flag iris, water plantain, water forget-me-not and something else I don't know the name of (looks like a three-leafed clover):

Every spring the frogs and toads spawn like mad, the tadpoles hatch and then they all just disappear. This has only happened the last 3 or 4 years. Before then we always had baby frogs and baby toads crawling all over the garden in late summer.
I think I have finally worked out the reason for the tadpoles' disappearance: damselfly larvae! This did not click until earlier this year when I saw just how many pairs of damselfly we have coming to the pond, laying their eggs. Plus, when I upgraded my tank in June and moved all my plants, fish and shrimp over I even found a larva in my old tank - which would have explained the disappearance of some smaller fish at the time!
Such is life, I guess.

Had some rain overnight, which makes everything look lush and fresh:
Not sure whether this bud will still open or just be aphid-food:
