Due to austerity, covid19 and domestic planning, this idea will have to be put on hold, which is real shame because this barrel is 30" across by 18" deep. The container has Cara Lilies growing in which my wife loves and although I suggested we move them to a different part of the garden ...negotiations have come to abruptly to an end with the comment "next door has a pond, you can look at that one"Martinspuddle wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 12:53 pmExclusive news!
Seeing as we are unlikely now to move a few years I have a cunning plan. It might involve a half whiskey barrel and be just outside the back door. Just got to work out the volume by ie litres and a possibility of having White Clouds Mountain Minnows in there, maybe even year around!
... watch this space as they say!
... to be continued.

Ssh, she's having a lay down. Does anyone know the math for working out how many litres this barrel might be?
Barrel is 30" across by 18" deep ...sorry try again it's 22" across by 15" deep.

I'm not bad at math but cylindrical volume has been a bit of handicap. Could you quickly re-shape the barrel into a cube or box?Martinspuddle wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 16:13 pm Ssh, she's having a lay down. Does anyone know the math for working out how many litres this barrel might be?

**hushed voice** I googled to work out my volume and when I was on, I say when I was on, I noticed they had an option for a cylinder.

1/2 π r2h
r= 15” and h= 22”
So 1/2π x 152 x 22 = 7,775”3
Or in metric (divide by 61 for approximate volume in litres)
127.4l
r= 15” and h= 22”
So 1/2π x 152 x 22 = 7,775”3
Or in metric (divide by 61 for approximate volume in litres)
