Hi there
Can anybody on here id this fish, sold as blue acara but thinking it looks a bit like a green terror.

Yes, a young female Green Terror. Andinoacara rivulatus as Martin said.
Interestingly i have an electric blue acara in the tank which is now laying eggs and the young green terror is following over them.
Im guessing this mean the GT is in fact a male, or can 2 females pair and behave in this wY?

Female cichlids will often ‘spawn’ together if there are no males present. Nearly always one lays the eggs and the other isn’t ready so just goes through the motions.
A male would have a much broader orange edge to the tail, and it wouldn’t be as well defined (it gradually fades at the front edge). Plus the belly profile and head profile are female. Also males hardly ever show the two white vertical bars.
If they were a true pair (male and female) they’d have to go through the testing/bonding palaver before getting down to business...
