Being very new to fish keeping i do a lot of reading about it, mainly websites/videos etc.

It never fails to amaze me that different info sites such as seriously fish, fish lore etc can have such conflicting information about suitable tank sizes, fish that can be kept together and in what conditions.

Are there ones that are more credible than others?

For me as a catfish fan, planet catfish can't be beaten as it has the ability for individual fish keepers to write their own breeding logs etc. For anything else I've always used seriously fish for a quick guide but it doesn't have much detail.

Where to get the most accurate fish keeping info

From my datasheets Paul ;]

There are many sources for info about fish species such as:-
https://www.fishbase.us/
https://www.seriouslyfish.com/
https://www.planetcatfish.com/

I have used a few more sites than the above and have read actual expeditions up south American rivers and the reports of what fish were found.
This has made the species found in certain rivers more accurate on my datasheets.
The sites already mentioned are very useful.

All the best

I have read a lot of your posts and find them very informative and interesting.
I do like reading the tank logs on this forum as first person accounts are excellent to learn about species I don't keep.
I've been looking on amazon and eBay for books on fish keeping but wonder if in this digital age its worth it as things seem to evolve and progress quite quickly

I have Ian Fuller's 2nd edition of Identifying Corydoridinae, but it's so out of date now. I don't even know if genus' like Brochis exist or not anymore. I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a good all round book as they'd only have the bread and butter species of the world. A massive encyclopedia would be brilliant, but would cost a fortune!

I find books a good reference but books are only in date at the time they are written.
Most if not all Brochis are now listed / re-designated as Corydoras which is why I use the internet as the information is usually more up-to-date and easily accessible.
There are several different species listed under the family Callichthyidae (armored catfishes), including Corydoras, Aspidoras, Callichthys, Dianema, Hoplosternum, Lepthoplosternum, Megalechis and Scleromystax.

My master datasheet lists over 17,000 freshwater fish species and is still work in progress but there must be many fish species that are unnamed and even undiscovered today.
I also have a "go to" datasheet listing around 2,000 fish species that are more readily available although only maybe a few hundred are readily available in the UK.
Here is my list of Corydoras species (scientific names only) taken from my master datasheet. There is quite a few (approx 200) and likely a few missing from the list.
