How do you guys go about bringing the water temperature down in your tank. I've got two good size bags of ice floating on the surface, switched off the lights and placed a fan directly in front. can't think of anything else without spending a lot of money

Same here but in our new house I noted that today except for the quarantine tank which was up by two degrees up both the 300 litre and 60 litre temperatures never budged.

Unless the fish are struggling I don’t worry. If the fish look hot (I mean if they are surface hogging ie low oxygen) I increase surface agitation, do some small cold water changes, other than that I just leave them to it.

I also don't tend to worry, I treat the warmer weather as a seasonal change in their natural habitat.
If I had fish species that prefer cooler water (below 24c) then I would probably do smaller daily water changes and/or float a bottle of cold water.
Warmer water holds less oxygen so adding an air pump will also help.

Although the fish are not showing any signs of stress, I was getting a bit concerned when the temperature went up by three degrees from 22.6 to 25.9. Anyway I'll try bringing it down gradually with a few cold water changes, thanks for all your replies

I've dropped my heater down a couple of degrees, if it cools down a bit more at night then it may not heat up so much in the day.

When I first set up my tank I felt the same. I put frozen bottles in the tank, but they didn’t do much long term.

As others have said, I now accept it as seasonal change and ensure the surface is well agitated.

My tank has gone up 2° from 25 to 27. Like others I'm not bothered about the temperature pursay as in the wild it would swing.
My problem is it makes my fish crazy. The oscars are very boisterous and chasing and wrestling far more than usual.

My aquariums are up to around 28/29C.
I have all the flaps open.
Big water changes tomorrow before the Saturday temp drop (expecting 22C on Saturday), much more bearable for the fish .... and me. ;)

My tank was up to 27 last night. There’s definitely a difference when it’s a few hot days in a row - the UK only usually gets 1 or 2 days at 30, not 5!
