Ah OK, mess is something I could do without more of with oscars and parrots in there so you've done me a favour!

Shouldn't think a plec would make all that much more mess, tbh.

Many times. They never made as much mess as cichlids did. They were true Hypostomus though, not those Pterygoplichthys that pass as common plecs today.

A plec can eat as much as an Oscar the same length. A well fed herbivorous one will outpoop most cichlids because of its less efficient digestive system.

How many fish do you already have Paul?
I thought you were letting the current inhabitants get to their full adult size now?? ;)

I have 4 oscars, 3 parrots, 1 severum and 1 tiny polar blue (short bodied convict).
Since my male convict died I've wanted to get another as my polar misses him and is lonesome and left out in the tank, so have ordered 3 convicts to see how they go with mind to remove if necessary.
A pleco would be if I have to separate the Oscars and rehome any.
At the moment the 2 big tigers are 12 and 11 inches. I have one albino tiger that is in rapid growth mode and up to 9" and an albino red that is 6".
(Really should update my tank log)
