Re: Hosepipe ban in the next few days ...it's not going effect us.

I have checked with Southern Water and apparently we do not come under the hose pipe ban.

I would say you're lucky but I'm struggling to understand why this is such a big deal, I only really used a hosepipe for my pool (now gone).
Some people with very well groomed gardens were on telly complaining about leaks being ignored, throwing stones in glass houses came to mind.

@LookoutTrout, you obviously don't remember the times people have had to queue for water at a stand pipe or water bowser in the end of the street during a water shortage. The previous time was 2018 here and a hose pipe ban is just one step away from this, so think again!LookoutTrout wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 8:33 am I would say you're lucky but I'm struggling to understand why this is such a big deal, I only really used a hosepipe for my pool (now gone).

More recently we had no water supply for five days, queuing for hours in hot weather waiting for bottled water. In some areas it was over 24 hours before Southern Water realised there was no water supply and started supplying free bottled water.
Kent online; Many Sheppey homes and businesses still without water
We're lucky this time because after they fixed the mains water leak the reservoirs at Isle of Sheppey and the Sittingbourne had been completely refilled at the end of last month.

I understand why the hopepipe ban is coming in but not why there seems to be so much anger about it in the press, I think they go round desperately looking for upset people to stick in front of the camera.
A couple of years ago we had a 3 days without water here due to burst pipes but luckily it hasn't coincided with my water butts being dry, having that stored for flushes makes life much nicer. I think the water company started handing out bottled water on the second day.

Islington always has to be different, they have so much water they made a new lake with it.

And a day after the Islington flood there's this press release, coincidence?
Thames Water plans to introduce hosepipe ban 'in weeks'
