Normally if he's over the marshes, it's not unusual for Charlie to suddenly spring into the air and pounce onto some poor critter in the long grass. Then he'll reappear with either a leg or and tail hanging out his mouth. He does somersaults to catch files indoors, so presumably he'd the same if he spotted a mouse.

As my wife says, Mice, it's par of the course living in a old Victorian house.
