Usually looking on your water suppliers website will provide you with the information on your water hardness.

I would treat with something. Finrot treatments are general bacterial treatments so a good call here I think.

I agree, finrot treatment of some kind.
Not sure where you are to check water hardness, but in most countries you can find out from the supplier's website.
If you're in the USA (5 hours behind?) it's likely to be hard water, so it shouldn't be that unless there's a water softener on the supply where you live.
The problem with fancy goldies is that they are much more prone to problems because of their genetics.
