I just took delivery of some java moss (on coconut) and vallisneria from AquaEssentials. Having only planted my tank once, before there were fish in it, I completely forgot about the concept of cleaning and quarantining plants too.

Outside of my main tank, what I have available is buckets, extra heaters, hydrogen peroxide, and one other small tank with no lights.

Could I ask for recommendations on the best way to proceed? Don't want to kill my new shrimp or have any snails.

I’ve never even given any thought to quarantining plants. All my plants have come from Aqua Essentials and never had any problems with snails or killing livestock. My only shrimp deaths have been of my own making :(

Plants don’t need to be quarantined. Any snail eggs can simply be wiped off.

Thanks.

I’m gonna stick the Java moss in my smaller tank for a couple of days, but the vallisneria (which was small and easily inspected) has gone straight in.

The only reason to quarantine plants is to make sure there's not copper on them (they often use this to kill nasties and snails - although it doesn't appear to kill snail eggs).
If you get them from places that don't use the copper then they should be ok.

You shouldn't have any issues with plants supplied from Aqua Essentials. :]
