Hi all,

This came up on a facebook page. Has anyone any experience with it?

https://fluvalaquatics.com/us/bug-bites/

On the face of it it looks good, or is it another gimmicky food.
Regards

My fish seem to like it. But pretty sure my fish would eat literally anything.
Except Aquarian flakes. For some reason they ignore these flakes

I have a small tub of the Fluval Bug Bites (cichlid formula).
My fish usually will eat anything I put in.
Fluval say:-
Fluval wrote:Insects are hunted by fish in the wild as they offer a widely available food source. The instinctive feeding habit is the foundation behind Bug Bites, which are formulated with nutrient-rich insect larvae and enriched with multiple quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
Fluval Bug Bites cichlid formula wrote: This formula meets the growth requirement of this highly active and often aggressive fish species, while helping to ensure proper conditioning and repair of body and fins.
Contains up to 40%, nutrient-rich Black Soldier Fly Larvae (#1 ingredient)
High in multiple proteins (i.e. Whole Salmon – rich in Omega 3 and 6 for healthy skin, scales and fins)
Fortified with essential vitamins, amino acids and minerals for a balanced daily diet
Easily digestible
Naturally palatable – a taste fish crave
Slow sinking micro granule format (1.4-2.0 MM) – all fish can feed at their preferred depth
Sustainably processed in small batches for quality control and maximum freshness
No artifical fillers, colors or perservatives
Made in Canada
Maybe I should feed it more often but I also have frozen foods and occasionally feed live food when available.

I use these and they get gobbled up. I don’t use as a meal though, more of a treat every now and again.

I give to my oscars as treats, they love them, although they swallow 3/4 whole at a time so doubt they taste them!

My rainbows hog bug bites, I used different versions for both of my tanks. Low waste/mess which I like as well.

Sorry….not on as much recently with life getting in the way!
Yes, I’ve been using the slow sinking Tropical ones for a year now (in combination with Hikari micropellets and frozen, so still on the first tub). Can’t complain about them at all.

@PaulVerrall Have you tried the goldfish one for your fish? I got some in a local pet store because it was reduced and I thought how different can it be - well they were like giant floating balls! Far too big for my fish but yours might have fun with it, I'll stick with the bottom feeder now although it says quick sinking most surface feeders are quick enough to get plenty, I think it's a good step up from flake at least insect larvae is the no.1 ingredient, the fish seem to love it :)
