I'm about to run out of Tetra Wafer Mix which I use to supplement New Life Spectrum pellets and frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp for my SA Cichlid tank and GN pleco.
My research into the New Life Spectrum kind of educated me as to the vast quality differences between foods out there and I'm now in the camp that is firmly quality and nutrition first and foremost.
Therefore, I'm not sure whether I actually need the wafer mix at all, and if so, what would be the highest quality, most nutritionally complete wafer to offer, or have I got that covered with the NLS and frozen food?
Alternative to Tatra Wafer Mix

In all the years I kept Loricariidae species I never used any Wafer products.
Always fed them fresh veg, Tetra Tablets or frozen foods.

It's mainly for my golden nugget if I'm honest. He is simply not interested in veg - totally ignores zucchini and other veg offerings, but I do see him hovercraft over the tetra wafers, and occasionally the NLS pellets that sink his way.
Maybe I just stick the pellets and frozen food and let him figure it out.
The tetra wafers tend to break up easily and dust the water a little.

Have tried offering this fish some defrosted beef heart, prawns or mussels?

Yes, all kinds over the years but he just ignores it, other than the blood worm, which he turns into a Dyson if he's in the mood - he's about 3 years old now and a good 4-5" long and seems to be doing fine.
I'll knock the wafers on the head.
