Hi,
I've been reading up on these lovely little fish and there seems to be conflicting info as to whether or not they will eat cherry shrimp. I know pretty much any fish is going to eat the baby shrimp if they can, but I don't mind too much losing some as long as the colony isn't going to be wiped out and the odd one survives to adulthood. Was thinking of 1 male and two females in a moderately planted tank.
Curious to learn of experiences from people that have kept sparkling gouramis and cherry shrimp together.
Ta.
Sparkling gourami and cherry shrimp?

They are known to eat Cherry Shrimp. It might be a balancing act, but with just three, if you keep them fed, with a varied diet which includes regular live foods, I doubt they’d wipe them out. I’m just guessing though.

It MAY work if the shrimp are there and established (and breeding) before the sparklies go in, BUT....cherry shrimp do better in harder water than the sparklies need - they are soft water fish.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I guess I’ll have to choose one or the other then.

I'd like cherry shrimp but the list of fish not to keep them with seems extensive.

The answer to this question is always very simple ...if it fits into a fishes mouth, it will be eaten.
WARNING - DO NOT BREED, FEED OR PET THE PUDDLE!

That’s why there’s never a head on when you get fish ‘n’ chips.Martinspuddle wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 11:52 am The answer to this question is always very simple ...if it fits into a fishes mouth, it will be eaten.
