I've made a few phone calls already and things are happening a lot quicker than I previously imagined.
I can see myself re-homing the existing stock and emptying the aquarium as soon as next week.
It'll probably take another week to clean the aquarium and get it advertised.
Once sold (may take a few weeks) then ordering the replacement aquarium and installing (setting up) would take maybe another week.
It could all happen this month (Aug) but more realistically in September.

Exciting times

We're now talking several weeks as opposed to 12 months. :D

I want LED lighting, the current 6 footer has T5 lighting.
It came with 2 light units each holding 4 x T5 tubes (8 in total), total wattage 252W.
One light unit packed in last year so I replaced it (cost £200), the other light unit packed in earlier this year but has not been replaced.
The aquarium and cabinet is sound except for the light unit.

The Juwel Rio 450L comes with 2 x 120cm LED, total wattage 58W (2 x 29W).
At the current electricity costs I will hopefully be saving something like £66 a year.
LED lighting is also superior to T5 which in turn is superior to T8.
LEDs should also last longer (about 5+ years) whilst T5s need changing about once a year (manufacturers state 50,000 hours which is 5.7 years based on LEDS on 24 hours a day, so if LEDS are on for 8 hours a day then that is 5.7 x 3 = approx 17 years).

Selling my stuff (6 footer, Lido 120 & an external filter) should finance for about 2/3rds of the cost of the new aquarium.
I'm only asking £300 for the 6 foot aquarium & cabinet (when my advert goes live).

Hope that makes sense

If only.
The flaps on top slot in to the grooves on the light units.
I don't want an open top or partial open top aquarium as I may have jumpers in the future.

Divorce ? Cost half of everything and maybe even more.

Both my tanks had led lighting grooved into the frame - both now have fluval lights (one aquasky 2.0 and one plant 3.0) and they both now have a sheet

This one to be exact: https://www.diy.com/departments/ariel-c ... 217_BQ.prd

You cant see it from any angle other than on top, light gets through fine - and it allows me to run better lighting. And they've both had it for over a year now (discus tank at 29c), neither showing signs of bowing

Same will go for the jewel etc, that lid will only run the jewel lighting - as soon as you want a better colour spectrum etc and need to upgrade lighting, your back to square one
