Either way, Purigen will work fine with a HMF 👌

I use purigen in bags in my fx4s and now fx6. It lowers my nitrates from 40ppm to around 5. It also takes the tannins out of the water from Bogwood.
Mine lasts about 6 months and I throw it away and replace with new rather than recharge with bleach.
Don't have any filter floss or polishing in there I think Andy said don't bother and my water is clear on the occasions that the Oscars aren't smashing everything in the tank up!

I use both a polishing pad and purigen. Probably a bit overkill, but my water is crystal, so I’m happy. 👍
