They’re trilineatus. It’s quite easy to tell the difference. Julii has no vermiculations, ie no “joined up spots”. Also the tail is very different. They’re also much rarer, and not farmed, so they would be much more expensive.

This is julii…

I've been looking for Julii for about 8 years and haven't seen a single fish. I thought I had once but they turned out to be Copei (a very nice fish still!). I know the guy at Cory's 4u has a breeding group but they're not very productive.

Most of the ‘common’ fish sold in the uk come from Singapore farms, who list trilineatus as julii. Most shops don’t know the difference, and just sell fish as what they buy them as. That’s why trilineatus are called julii in most shops.

Lee (@Vess) was part of a breeding group for julii, but I haven't heard from him for ages......
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! :D

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

Went to my local MHA and to their credit had them labeled as false Julii but the shop where I bought the trilineatus said they were Julli.
