Cyprinodon atrorus, the desert pupfish, breeds during warmer months. Males display vibrant colors to attract females, establishing territories and constructing nests in suitable spots. Females lay eggs in these nests, and males guard them until hatching. Mimicking natural conditions in a separate tank with appropriate lighting, suitable water parameters, and providing hiding spots can encourage breeding.
