Thought i would start up a log. its an established tank, but as its going to go through a new scape its a good time to start one.

A piece of manzanita i bought had an outbreak of BBA which was really annoying me. No matter how many times i scraped it off, it came back two times worse.

So it has been treated and replaced back in but this time, instead of having it centrally in the tank, flowing horizontally, i rotated it 90 degrees and popped it in the left corner.

From this …

To this.. Well that is the left side.

I feel the other side, from the echinodorus onwards, is now looking untidy so i treated myself to some talawa wood from tmaquatix for the new transformation. Thanks @fr499y for the recommendation.

I would like to create an amazonian rooted backdrop and i think these will achieve just that even though the wood is not from that region. Just looks the part. It will elevate everything leaving more floor space whilst retaining a good amount of plant life and hidey nooks and crannies.
Well that is the plan anyway.

Anyone use talawa wood ?

How natural that looks. My wood is soaking just now. So, its a waiting game for it to sink. <foot tapping> <fingers tapping> dum dee dah dee dum ……

A couple kettles over it to open the pores and it should sink pretty quickly :)

Don't cover up your lovely Echinodorus! I would love a big healthy large leaf plant like that but accept that I do not have a good enough substrate, also in most tanks it would soon be munched upon, I do like how a couple of new bits of wood can transform a tank

Thanks @Staffylover . I dont have any particular substrate other than speckled sand from maidenhead aquatics. Thats it. I got that plant when it really was quite very small (about finger length high) and moved it over with all the residents from 64 l tank to 200l. I dont use any ferts or co2. It loves the fish water and cories snoozing underneath it 😁. It wont get covered over but it is getting shifted a little. But i need to wait for the wood to sink in the soaking tub before i can see how it will all fit together 😂😂. I did get the kettle out this afternoon so hopefully not too long (cos im itching to get it in). I love seeing how fish go exploring when stuff gets moved about.

Corys are the absolute nosiest followed by sunset gouramis. I was working on a tank and popped my plants in a small breeder box in the tank to keep plants safe while i was doing stuff … guess who has to investigate - D.I. Sunny !

Tipped him out cos i wasnt sure if he could actually get back out and he went straight back in :suprised: . So i left him there til i was done (well till he decided he finished his nap.

He was quite content with a new hidey hole i made him
