Sorry about your losses.
Sounds to me as the age old problem of the more you dose to cure one or more issues, you end up killing off good bacteria in the process, thus causing yet more problems.
Do you have a hospital tank to move and treat the sickest?

I agree Martin - everything I used was "filter safe" - but im guessing the constant treatments just crashed the tank.
I do have a hospital tank but its only a 40cm and I thought the stress of being alone for 1 fish would cause that fish more problems than treating the tank. I was also thinking it was bacterial so likely other fish suffering.
The tank is now back too 0,0's although I dont think the ammonia/nitrite damage is over unfortunately. Got a discus with pop eye that i've been using Melafix on (darent use anything else now!) - it seems common with discus when kept in "poor" (ammonia/nitrite) water conditions, so hopefully it clears up.

@Lee_k have you tried using Catappa leaves?
These are known to release chemicals into the water column and naturally help fight off mild bacterial, fungal or parasitic infections.
I use them all the time and small amounts will not turn the water tea coloured.

Hi all,
3 months later and another update!
Although with some big changes to the tank.
As a update to the problems when the tank "crashed" - I think from the meds. I moved into a quarantine tank the blue diamond discus that started it all off, the snow leopard that had the tumour as it stopped eating and the marlborough that had the bad eye. Unfortunately both the snow leopard and blue diamond eventually passed. I tried further treatment when they were alone, also tried live foods etc to try and encourage them too eat but nothing. The marlborough is still going, it looks like the infection cleared up but it now seems to be suffering with that discus stubborness in that trying to get it eating again is proving difficult. I've moved him back in with the other discus and fish to stop him getting stressed but I cant see a positive outcome coming for this but only the next month or so will tell.
In the meantime I did add 3 more discus, a german wonder (which was actually a bit difficult as he was the first I lost and by far my favourite but we've got a new one now). A snakeskin blue and a pige blood snake (maybe, cant 100% remember!) but they've been in around 3 weeks now and doing well. They feed like pigs which is good with the marlborough as its a way to break that refusal to eat when others go mad at it, but its not working.
Anyway the changes - the tanks been running for 2 years now! (wow!) so it was time for a big change I think with what i've learnt along the way. I decided for a complete change with a bit more of a impactful scape so decided on bog wood and dragon stone
So we started like this...
..And yep that paper is cut to the size of the tank
Then after catching everything (not easy ... turns out i've still got all 4 amano shrimp in there too) we ended up like this:
Then after the plants went in it was all finished!
It basically got completely emptied substrate and all, replaced with
Columbo Floragrow aqua soil placed in filter bags along the back
Topped all over with 22kg of Unipack silver sand
Drift wood was all what I already had collected over the years
Existing plants (few of them I didnt put back in)
I've also brought some moss but not got round to glueing it too the wood yet.
These were some quick snaps grabbed just, i'll try get some proper pictures or a video later today
