Mine have eaten some grim things on beaches over the years - the worst though is when it’s too dead to eat and they roll instead and then you have to get a dog stinking of rotten fish back to where you are staying and try to clean them. Revolting creatures! I’m glad Charlie is ok after his tasty snack!!

Anglers catching them, throwing back but they die of exhaustion or I had noticed there a couple of Dredgers working the shipping channel, maybe that's something to do with their demise.

I'd say it was more to do with the dredger Martin.Martinspuddle wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 0:03 amAnglers catching them, throwing back but they die of exhaustion or I had noticed there a couple of Dredgers working the shipping channel, maybe that's something to do with their demise.
Rays are pretty tough fish and usually go back alright.

Charlie is good at this. Running round and round, next thing you know blood up his leg.
Disclaimer, I've not posted any pictures of this accident for obvious reasons.
This time I find he has ripped dew claw plus the toe half off! ...still running around though until he catches it, then there's a small yelp.
So to the vets we go, through the door and a female voice says " Hello Charlie, what you done this time?! " ...he has become that well known for his accidents.
Lady vet today, who tells me yes it's nearly off and the toe has a very long cut between the dew toe and leg, almost severed. The claw will have to be removed as already it has become infected where he has been licking the wound (probably because he has been recycling cat poo again!) so the toe will be stitched.
So showing Charlie a small bag of treats, she gives him a mild local in his leg and some pain killer. While he's looking at bag of treats just past the veterinary nurse, the vet appears, pliers in hand, at this point I couldn't look and left the treatment room...YELP! nurse gives him a handful of doggy treats and he's happy. Coming out of the treatment room, he gives me the look if to say ...that's the last time I'm letting you take me to the ruddy vets mate!
Still, with pain killers and antibiotics the bill was only £195.
The final insult, cone of shame.

Are you this accident prone Martin?
They say pets are like their owners
At least he’s ok, hope he heels up quickly and doesn’t end up back at the vets soon
