I've had so many different fish die being eggbound, and I have no clue as to what the resolution is.
It usually happens with young or very old fish.
So sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss Si
To the tune of “the saints go marching in”:
Oh fluffy sheep! Oh fluffy sheep! Oh fluffy sheep are wonderful, they’re white Welsh and fluffy! Oh fluffy sheep are wonderful!

Thanks for everyone's replies.
So it turns out the chubby girl I saw the day before, is actually still a chubby girl and sat in the same cave. Hoping she gets with a nice chap ASAP and doesn't come to the same fate!
In another cave I've been watching a zebbie going a bit mad this aft. Shone a torch in and he's actually doing his best to trap a female. Promising result! Another male (in the cave next door) has also not moved from his cave for 5 days. Maybe that's a good sign of some potential breeding too.
Someone on a pleco ground on FB suggested I get an egg tumbler for the eggs from the dead pleco. I'm not convinced they'll be fertile without a male innitially, but I can't find anywhere online that actually says if the male fertilises before or after the eggs or laid. Just female lays them and he guards them.
2 of the eggs are still egg shaped and unfungussed and overnight amazon delivery means they're now tumbling away in my new egg tumbler.
Also swapped my 406 filter for my spare fx6 a couple of weeks ago for extra filtration. Flow is a bit stronger, but not overpowering and all the fish look happier with the bigger filter on.
It's a very emotional tank at the moment! Devastating deaths to super-exciting trappings. It's all going on! Hopefully the other females have a better time of things. Keep your fingers crossed for them all please.

Going from bad to worse...
The emotional roller continues on a severe downward trajectory.
After watching 2 zebras trapping last night I excitedly woke up hoping for eggs this morning. What I found was the male had gone and left a battered, bruised and bloody dead female behind. I did think the trapping looked very aggressive, but never seeing this before and reading they can be a 'bit rough' I left them to it.
Bloody body, scales ripped and pattern mauled off. Sad times.
Might give up on them if things don't improve.
