Yeah…I just grabbed the first piece of music on the app I use that I didn’t immediately hate…but they cheated and the sample was clearly from the best bit, definitely not as insipid as how it turned out!PaulVerrall wrote: ↑Fri Oct 01, 2021 20:49 pm Tank and fish look great! Not so sure on the elevator music playing though

Enjoying the new look, especially with the darker evenings starting. I can see the fish more clearly with the lighter substrate but there’s still enough for them to hide in. And feeling more able to do the necessary ferts dosing now it’s just the one tank, one water change instead of 2 tanks both getting twice weekly.
The boy hasn’t said anything about the absent honeys or Pumpkin…but I think I’ll take a trip with him to a fish shop this week and grab some more nerites, maybe a rabbit snail if I can find any (and slip the sales person a photo & note to add in an extra “pumpkin” on the sly).

I considered rabbit snails but decided against it as I read they will eat the plants, not sure how true that is as I didn't try it.

Hello all.
Again, apologies for the long absences! Definitely have hit burnout after the stress of the last year and everything school put us through, although in good news I did get my official autism diagnosis so I’m definitely being kinder to myself over not being able to keep up with stuff I used to manage.
The tank is still suffering niggling BBA but only bothers me if I look too closely…it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of curling up on the sofa to watch the fish.
One more cory had to be euthanised a couple of weeks ago with the same symptoms as all the others over the past year. It wasn’t looking as bad as previous ones, but it had that weird gunky growth going on for months, and then as I was getting the water change started, I noticed it couldn’t maintain itself on the substrate; kept lifting up and hanging perpendicular before swimming back down to substrate…and repeat. So I dealt with it quickly then because none have ever recovered.
Remaining fish are all looking ok, growing as expected and keeping me entertained of an evening. It’s been a whole year since I added the Congos and I’m not sure where the time has gone?!

Glad you are still able to enjoy your fish, good news about the diagnosis, always nice to go to an aquatic store, if I can't buy any fish I still enjoy looking through the tanks, if I see anything I like I can always put it on the possibles list for the future

Well…whatever causes the mysterious sterbai deaths just keeps on slowly taking them out! Not so lumpy this time but I noticed one going slowly pale. Yesterday I figured I’d give it until tonight’s water change before deciding if it was time to euthanise…carcass this morning at lights on. Took a good look at the others when removing the corpse and spotted another one starting to look a bit pale…another carcass at lights on just now!
Must be something genetic surely as that’s 16 months or so I’ve had them and no other species has been affected since the first settling in dramas? Tank was wormed 3 times last year, they’re all fed the same etc. Shame as it was nice thinking I had a really reasonably priced store nearby (even if there was the somewhat typical male dominant ego thing I find in stores - obviously not here!).
