They are very nice fish, but do prefer groups, as most of that type of fish do, even though the groups aren't as "tight" as loaches.
I don't really have the room for a group unfortunately as they do seem a pretty active fish, I read that they should be keep alone or in a group of 6 as while peaceful in the community they do fight amongst themselves? I think I will try one as the guy at Maiden head aquatics said he has one in nearly all his tanks. I cant seem to find otos anywhere near me.

Not much new plants growing and fish definitely colouring up more! Is there any fish as greedy as a Harlequin :D, every time I open the lid they go to the top.

All livebearers are greedy, but harlies are pretty greedy for non-livebearers. ;) :D

I added some Salvinia last night and they even thought it was food. :D

I shouldn't think you'll need the phosphate remover unless your tapwater is really high, and the carbon can be dumped for different media. ;)

I had no real idea what they did they just came with it, what's considered the best biological media?

Either sponge/alfagrog/ceramic there's a lot out there, the Eheim stuff is supposed to be pretty good.

I have sponge covered I will get a bag of alfagrog and a bag of ceramic do they really need changed every month?

Don't change biological media until it starts to break down and cloud your water, with good media the timescale for this is measured in decades or even centuries.

You only need to clean it if it gets clogged up with physical muck and even then you only ever clean part of your bio media at a time.
