I have been looking to replace my Vivaline 126l tank which is now 12years old. However, what I have noticed is Eheim calculates the volume from the outside measurements of the tank. The Eheim Vivaline 126l tank is 800mm x 350mm x 450mm:



However, when you take the 16mm (for the thickness of the glass) from the 800mm, and same again for the 350mm, then the 8mm (for the bottom glass thickness) and 10mm to "fill mark" for the 450mm (height), the volume of water in Ehiem's 126l tank is:



and this is without, fish, gravel, rocks, plant etc.

That's underhand, if I do that with my AquaOne tank it adds 15% to the volume.

No it's not you, for reason Eheim have a very strange way of calculating their aquarium volumes.

Pretty sure all aquarium volumes are calculated using exterior dimensions. I assume it's just a marketing thing. I thought that was pretty standard across the board.

My Aqua One 600L aquarium turned out to be closer to 550L.

The Eheim vivalineLED 126 has 8mm glass so the internal measurements should now be 800-16=784mm x 350-16=334mm x 450-16=434mm (the base is usually double thickness).
784 x 334 x 434 = 113.6L water volume.
