So this is a resurrection of my 340l 4ft Aqua Oak tank, bit of back story copied from my other thread below,
On the fish front I had a bad couple of months loosing several of the established fish some of which I'd had for years all for different reasons, then the first batch of new fish nearly all died as a result of Columnaris which took weeks to sort out, leaving me with 2 large mostly empty tanks, with a lot of other things going on including (but not restricted to) my little staffy going on end of life care for skin cancer, a two week holiday, redesign of the garden, fracturing my finger, plus voluntary redundancies at work led me to find a good home for the remaining fish and to shut the tanks down completely
This did not last long, straight away I missed having them and after a few weeks the 350l was back up and running, I will have to stick to one tank until I am in a more secure job so the other one got sold,
I had kept the more robust plants and most décor so all I had to do was get new substrate, the first bag I ordered online was a much lighter colour than I expected, so it was a quick trip to the LFS to get whatever black stuff they had in, which happened to be JBL Monado, there is no soil underneath so I will be interested to see how the plants get on, tank looks bare at the moment but hopefully will fill out over time,
Regarding fish, this will be a community, there isn't a theme as such, but I would like to primarily concentrate on bottom feeders - Catfish/ pleco/ loaches and the like, since I now have gravel Cory are out, but most types were not suited to my water anyway, this also applies to L number plecos, but I have been researching for a good few weeks now and have come up with a good number of options on a possibilities list, I do love a bit of research, most are not so easy to find, I will be unlikely to come across many in my LFS - I like to make things difficult for myself! But a good number of the bigger stores also do postage so that is an option.
A few weeks ago I got my first fish 1 Pleco and 4 tiny hovering loach - it's all they had left, I had these loach before and really liked them, I did plan to get more when the shop gets some but now I think they are going to be too small for most catfish so I better not get any more.
These are now ready to come out of QT, so recently I took a trip to Wharf after reserving some African Banded Barbs I had seen listed on their stock lists, I also kept these fish before, had them ages, they stick to the bottom area of the tank and behave much like a loach, since I was there of course I found some others that I liked, including torpedo loach and Synodontis Petricola (which I also kept before) Everybody is together in QT as I did not want to try and feed just a couple, of currently tiny, bottom feeders in a large tank.
Will attach pic of tank as it is now, not much to look at but I hope to add in some caves and pipes and possibly more plants soon

Finally got to transfer some fish into the main tank, the first of them had been in QT for about 7 or 8 weeks waiting until I had enough to make it worth transferring them, have attached some pics of the fish moved over and updated my profile, I have an online plant order due this week so hope to do a bit more on the tank this weekend.

A few plants were added to the tank this weekend, can't say it looks any different they just seem to have disappeared! Plus ceramic cave and pipes both the wood ones are in use but no interest in the new ones yet.
Been making use of the nice weather to be out in the garden a little bit, the pond needs a good clear out but am waiting for stuff to die back, a plant that has been in there since the start has decided to flower now, so that was a nice surprise

A few weeks back picked up a cheap small tank off FB for £20, the idea of this was to give me somewhere I can keep sand lovers since the main tank is now gravel, it's actually in good condition, not many scratches and the light works although you have to turn it off at the plug rather than the switch - no big deal,
Turns out it is a Superfish 70l, that's what it says on the tank but having filled it with buckets I think 60l would be more accurate, it came with a stand which is actually an MDF writing desk, didn't fancy trusting that, so after some head scratching and inspired by @Martinspuddle it has gone in the kitchen, had to knock the pins out of the hinges so that the lid could be lifted right off as there are cupboards above otherwise it has fitted in there a treat.
Been gathering bits together for it slowly, finally could set it up today It's a bit foggy in there so you can't tell but I have transferred beacon tetra which were intended for the main tank, and they might still end up there if they get a bit big but at the moment they are tiny, plus some dwarf gourami and half the media for QT tank so it should be ok,
Will get a better pic in a couple of weeks but at the moment it's fairly bare no substrate only sand as it needs to be easy maintenance, 1 piece of wood and a few little Bruce plants, still it looks better now than it did this morning!

Following this was given a small tank by my cousin who no longer wanted it, I didn't plan on or expect another tank but it's a nice little tank so I will set it up somewhere when I get time, it's about 2ft long but only 1ft high/wide so about 40l the footprint is quite big though for the size of it so that's nice, it is currently residing on the writing desk but it can't stay there as it overhangs slightly
I shouldn't think there will be many pics of these small tanks so what there is I will keep posted to this thread.
Going back to the main tank tried to take some pics yesterday but they weren't coming out well so gave up and took a little video, whilst I was faffing the Candy Stripe plec made an appearance so that was nice, lots of interest now in the bottom area of the tank, can never seem to get taller plants to grow so the top always looks a bit bare, some top swimmers would help, the scissortail types I got seem to also prefer the bottom area - never mind, here is the YouTube link, hope it works
