New into my LFS and just labelled as gourami (white) - i did a bit of googling and the closest i can find is possibly the platinum gourami?

Agreed, and probably won't be the most docile fish with the in-breeding to get that effect.
3-spots are quite grumpy anyway.
You'd need at least a 4' tank.
